I was painting in the Bisti badlands in the fall and the sun went down quickly. As I gathered my materials to hike back to the parking lot, I looked in all directions and saw the most wonderful shapes and shadows. I took just one photo; in my studio I tried to re-create that magic moment and this painting is the result.
